Torrevieja To Alicante Airport BusTorrevieja to Alicante Airport bus service is operational from the main bus terminus in the city centre. The service will prove extremely helpful to those visiting Torrevieja who don’t have friends or family in the area to pick them up or don’t have the funds or necessary license to hire a vehicle. At 6.92€ for a one way ticket, the bus service saves travellers a considerable amount on using taxis. A taxi from the airport will cost over 50€.
Torrevieja To Alicante Airport BusTo check out how user friendly the service is, I decided to catch the Torrevieja to Alicante Airport bus myself. Torrevieja’s bus terminus is centrally located where Av. de las Habaneras ends, and Calle Antonio Machado starts. It is easily recognised by the Mercadona Supermarket a couple of block away. This is where the entrance to the old location of the Friday Market was.
Torrevieja Bus TerminusInside the terminus there are 2 ticket booths. The one closer to the bar/cafe deals with Torrevieja buses. The other is the Alsa Bus Service that deals with Alicante and Benidorm buses, among others. Use the Torrevieja ticket booth when buying your ticket. If you are running late, you can buy a ticket from the driver. Please note, priority boarding will be given to those in the queue who have already purchased a ticket. If you haven’t, you will be asked to wait for all ticket holders to board first. However, you may find there are no available seats left, especially in the busy summer months. Best thing is, don’t leave it until the last minute.
Terminus FacilitiesI arrived with 15 minutes to spare so decided to grab a bite in the bar/cafe. Compared to some larger city bus terminus’ I’ve used, it’s pretty reasonably priced. A Serrano ham baguette and espresso coffee cost me 4€. If you have more time on your hands, there are a number of nearby tapas bars that will serve you the same thing for half that price. You also have the Mercadona Supermarket. This is well worth visiting before your journey if you are going to have a long wait at the airport, where food and drink is very expensive.
Torrevieja To Alicante Airport Bus CompanyThe Torrevieja to Alicante Airport bus company is called Quickair Torrevieja. It leaves from in front of the ticket booth; my 11.00 bus was right on time. It had big lettering saying Torrevieja on the sides but only a small sign saying airport in the windscreen above the driver. So if in doubt, ask or look for the queue with people carrying suitcases. The bus is comfortable, clean and air conditioned. The journey took about an hour and has no stops along the way.
Alicante Airport Bus StopArrival at the airport and return to Torrevieja is at the airport’s 2nd level and I combined my journey with a visit from Alicante Airport to Benidorm. I decided to leave my return from the airport back to Torrevieja until the last bus at 22.00 just to make sure there was one. I am pleased to say there is and it too was right on time and just as efficient. Bus times below :

Torrevieja buses are one of those mysteries often pondered on by many tourists but rarely attempted. This is really a shame as they’re a cheap way of getting around most of the city’s surrounding residential areas and nearby towns.
