Golf in Torrevieja

Golf in Torrevieja is extremely popular and quite often the Costa Blanca is referred to as the Costa del Golf due to its abundance of golf courses, making it a keen golfer’s paradise. With the wonderful micro-climate that Torrevieja enjoys, players can make the most of it and play golf all year round. Many of the Golf Resorts have other facilities to enjoy such as restaurants and bars and even gyms and pools in some cases, which means if you’re on holiday with a keen golfer but you’re not into the sport much yourself, then you can still go together even if you don’t want to necessarily play a game of golf. You can just enjoy the scenery and the other facilities on offer.

Golf Courses

Golf courses in Torrevieja and the surrounding areas pose a challenge for even the most experienced golfer. With such an excellent choice of clubs and courses in the area, players are assured of finding a course to suit their golfing abilities. The Costa Blanca is increasingly becoming a popular choice for golfing holidays. Due to this, many properties surrounding the various golf courses offer holiday lets. Alternately, some of the golf courses form part of a resort with hotel accommodation. Whatever your choice, Torrevieja makes an ideal base.

Southern Golf Courses

The crowning glory to the south of Torrevieja is the spectacular La Manga Club. Classed as  being Europe’s top sports and leisure resort, it boasts a staggering four 18 hole courses. One of these is an excellent 18 hole pitch & putt course designed by the much loved professional golfer Severiano Ballesteros. In addition to the golf courses, La Manga features many other sporting facilities and academies including a superb 28 court Tennis Centre. Also to the south is Lo Romero Golf. This is often referred to as ‘golf island’ due to its 18th hole being totally surrounded by water. The golf course also features a practice area and pleasant club house.

Central Golf Courses

We refer to the area of Orihuela Costa as central as it neighbours Torrevieja. Visitors to the area will find several 18 hole courses within 10 minutes drive from one another. Real Club de Golf Campoamor forms part of a resort boasting a four star hotel and excellent leisure facilities. Its 18 hole par 72 course is a pleasure to play with beautiful scenery and views to the sea. Close to this is Las Colinas Golf & Country Club. It has recently been rated by Golf World as being one of the top 100 courses in Continental Europe. It was also rated as Spain’s Best Golf Course in 2015/16.  Villamartin Golf Club rounds off the central golf courses. The 18 hole par 72 course lies slightly inland and next to the popular Villamartin Plaza. Aside from shops and excellent entertainment venues, golf accommodation is also available in the plaza.

Northern Golf Courses

Vistabella Golf is the closest northern course to Torrevieja. The unique course lies near the  shores of Lake Pedrera. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that it only has 11 holes. These have been expertly configured to allow for an 18 hole round. The club also features good practice facilities, tennis courts and a lawn bowls centre. Just north of Vistabella is Hotel La Finca Golf & Spa Resort. Here players can enjoy a challenging round on the 18 hole course as well as the delights of the hotel’s accommodation and leisure facilities. Slightly further afield is the family run La Marquesa Golf & Country Club. This is a great course to visit during the scorching summer months as its superb clubhouse is home to a very welcoming swimming pool.
