Torrevieja has over 20km of stunning coastline with an abundance of beaches and coves. From beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal clear water to the more adventurous rocky beaches ideal for exploring rock pools. The warm Mediterranean Sea is extremely inviting and lovely for a relaxing swim or some fun splashing around with the children.
10 minutes to the south is the beautiful Orihuela Costa which has another 15 km’s of sandy beaches. This area is one of the jewels of the Costa Blanca, one of the top Spanish Costas for tourism and the wonderful climate.
Many of the beaches in Torrevieja have been awarded the Blue Flag status. Since it is a very popular tourist destination they really work hard at keeping their beaches clean and in top condition and most are cleaned nightly during the high season. The main beaches have extra services such as Life Guards, colour coded flags indicating sea conditions for swimming (Green, means it’s safe to swim, Yellow, enter the water with caution and Red, means do not swim), bars/restaurants and toilets, although during the low season not all of these remain open. Torrevieja has no Nudist Beach; however topless sunbathing is very common (as it is across most beaches in Spain). The closest non-official Nudist Beach is Playa de Tusales about 18km from Torrevieja, this is to the North of the city, just after Guardamar de Segura, off the N-332a. There is also one to the South in the Orihuela Costa area between the Punta Prima and Playa Flamenca.
